Considering a Wind Project?
SJ1 Renewables recognise that every client and each site is unique. We provide flexible options to suit your needs.
We work with you at each step to provide independent, tailored advice on the best available solutions for your site and energy use. Our expert service includes:
- Site assessments to establish the resources available
- Grid connection studies
- Planning and licensing applications
- Project management for a smooth, hassle-free process
Site Survey
We will bring their extensive experience to your site. We undertake a Desk and Site Survey as well as a technical assessment to enable us to design the right solution for you. Information is gathered on site and an outline system design is created. Site specific performance is estimated and presented alongside project cost. Viewed from the wider landscape, the survey looks at how the turbine fits into the surrounding area. The site survey forms the basis for the next steps.
Desktop Assessment
Our desktop evaluation looks at all the local constraints, examining the planning, environmental and technical aspects of installing a turbine. Within these constraints an optimum turbine solution is put forward and the system performance is outlined using data on the natural resource at your site. From resource measurement to answering the question of how to get construction and plant equipment to the often remote installation area, we have the skills to cover the range of site specific considerations. Our assessments include:
- Wind speed measurement and analysis
- Wind shadow and turbulence intensity studies
- Energy generation
- Optimised turbine positioning
- Site access for construction and plant equipment
Planning Permission
Wind turbines require planning permission and, depending on the size and location, they require different levels of studies and supporting information. When preparing a wind turbine planning proposal it is essential to follow planning guidance to have the best chance of gaining approval. Where minimums cannot be met then elevated levels of study might be required. This not only increases the overall project cost but also means additional time is required for the studies to be completed. Our expertise helps to smooth out this process and maximise the chance of a positive planning response.
Design Process
Understanding the impact of a development on the surrounding environment and utility infrastructure, minimises the level of study and associated costs., this is a key part of our design process. When designing renewable system solutions SJ1 Renewables combine their many years of experience to cover all technical aspects of the design as well as the impact on the environment. We rely on our engineers’ expert knowledge combined with industry leading software to provide precise design work at competitive prices. The design steps that we specialise in include:
- Mechanical System Design
- Civil System Design
- Electrical System Design
Project Management
Projects of a certain size require a higher level of health and safety documentation. Our Work Safe Policy means that we always adhere to the necessary standards. Typically small-scale works will be below this threshold, however, there are times when the work time onsite increase above the threshold. We have the in-house capabilities to cover the regulation requirements for all the works which we undertake.
We have the in-house capabilities to cover the regulatory requirements for all the works which we undertake. We also hold all relevant qualifications from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). If your project needs sign-off on any of these regulatory requirements you can employ us to handle just this part alone.
There are a considerable number of tasks and sub-tasks which need to be well organized to ensure a system is installed on time and on budget. Our project plans make sure that tasks are well-managed and highlights what progress is being made, where we are up to and the expected completion date.
Civils and Foundations
We offer bespoke civil installation works for hydro power construction projects and medium scale wind turbine bases. We specialise in cast concrete for locations which present access difficulties. Above or below ground pipeline construction in varying pipe materials – design, installation and jointing offered.
Installation
We have been installing systems for many years and our portfolio of turbine types includes Skystream, Evance, Gaia, Westwind, Endurance, Northernpower and Vestas Wind turbines. At SJ1renewables we organise all aspects of an installation, covering the civil, mechanical, electrical and communication engineering elements. As part of our turnkey offering, our capabilities include:
- Excavations, form work, steel reinforcement, concreate pour and finishing
- Cable trenching
- Tower erecting
- Nacelle and blade assembly
- Electrical installation and connection
- Telecommunication, connection and configuration
- Testing and commissioning
