Godlington Manor Farm

The Bowerman family have been farming Godlington Manor Farm since 1949, when a three-generation agricultural lease was taken. With approximately 450 acres, the main business consists of a beef suckler herd of cows and steers. There are also horse stables in the Victorian farm buildings with the stables rented out on a DIY basis.

The freehold is now with the National Trust and Mr Bowerman has worked closely with them to build a purposeful relationship by promoting conservation on the farm. Godlington Manor Farm needed a range of services to optimise their renewable energy capability.

SJ1 worked with TWTC to provide the right solution for the farm. SJ1 was tasked with the technical design and overview of the installation. This involved the electrical connections and the foundations.

The watching brief, a technical checking service was also undertaken by the team along with checking all of the equipment the site required.

SJ1 finally were responsible for the anchor which is integral to the foundation and installation of the turbine. Mr Bowerman believes in a bit of give and take to create a fruitful and harmonious relationship between conservation, environmental concerns, and commercial business and that it can be achieved.
