About Us

How it began

SJ1 Renewables’ founder, Simon England, is a time-served apprentice who started out on the shop floor producing parts and equipment for the precision aerospace industry. This provided a great grounding in engineering and, having completed a technical level apprenticeship, resulted in Simon becoming a production design engineer. Simon’s passion and overriding goal was to work his way into renewable energy technologies.

Through this aspiration, the opportunity to work and train with a well-established Hydro company in the Pyrenees Mountains in 2005, opened the door for Simon into this sector. On return to the UK, Simon worked as a multidiscipline engineer at Segen (now MyriadCEG) in 2011, serving as Head of Technical Services until leaving to start SJ1 Renewables in February 2013.

Our Approach

Technologies such as PV, Hydro and Wind Turbine systems are complicated projects which require multidiscipline engineering and specialist consultancy to get it right. Whether through inexperience or misrepresentation, mistakes can be costly and time consuming.

Our goal is to provide clear, unambiguous advice and to develop systems which are appropriate for a given set of circumstances. Our diligent resource assessments ensure that the correct machine choices are made and installations are carried out to the highest standards, meeting the lifetime demands of these types of systems.
