The return to embeded generation
After the widespread and damaging policy changes made by the previous government to onshore renewable energy, we are finally seeing the green shoots of recovery.
Old projects—once mothballed—are now moving back into planning, with a 5MW Solar PV project expected to receive approval in the coming weeks.
We’re also seeing an increase in enquiries for new micro hydro sites, as farms and landowners look once again to diversify their income. Many are keen to reduce their exposure to energy market volatility by generating their own power. Franckly, its been a real pleasure to get back out on the rivers and farms and a privelage to be working closely with hard working farmers and castodians of the land.
One such example is a Micro Hydro Site designed and installed by SJ1 Renewables, highlighting the potential for small-scale renewable infrastructure to make a big impact on people lives.
SJ1 Renewables are recieving enquires for both rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems.
All technologies are benefiting from the wide array of advanced battery storage options now available—enabling more efficient and flexible energy use than ever before.
The sector is clearly gaining momentum, and it’s exciting to see real movement after years of policy stagnation. The next challenge is to ensure this momentum turns into long-term, scalable action.
