At SJ1 Renewables, we’ve seen the shift first-hand: solar is more affordable, more efficient, and more popular than ever.
And now, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has made it official. Their latest figures show that solar PV costs in the UK are at their lowest in over a decade, and the technology available in 2025 is the best it’s ever been.
Latest Solar Installation Costs in the UK (DESNZ, 2025)
According to the May 2025 data release from DESNZ:
– Domestic systems (<4 kW): Now average £1,400–£1,500 per kW installed
– Mid-size systems (10–50 kW): Down to around £1,100 per kW
That means a 4 kW home system might cost under £6,000 installed—with no VAT and SEG export payments helping to shorten the payback period to as little as 5 years. Coupled with a battery storage solution puts you in control of the power you use.
