7.5MW Wind Turbine by Enercon

This article from Windpower Monthly contains some impressive figures relating to the size of the new Enercon 7.5MW wind turbine. The largest onshore wind turbine so far in the world. RWE is one of Europe’s five leading electricity and gas companies, and as part of their 429MW Noordoostpolder site on the banks of the Ijsselmeer lake in central Netherlands, they are installing a total of 12 Enercon turbines. Take a look at some of the sizes being discussed here, and look at the image which shows a simulated view of the installed 7.5MW machines,...

Onshore wind cheaper than coal or gas

Onshore wind farms – Cheapest form of uk electricity The above link is to an article from the Guardian which is an interesting read. It highlights the juxtaposition between common sense (and the majority of the population’s opinions) and what our Government are actually implementing. It would be very good to see as much debate on social media about power demand and production in the UK, as we have seen of late about other ‘political’ news.  Please share this and start some debate about why the UK Renewables industry is...

Our engineers are up in the sky today

If you are in or around west London today give our engineers a wave as they carry out maintenance work on the BSkyB Head Office Wind Turbine. It is not often that you will see a turbine of this scale surrounded by so many other buildings, and even less often that you will see one with such elegant tower design. Erected in 2012, the 60m high turbine is visible from the surrounding area and M4, and has the capacity to generate 100kW at peak wind conditions, 133,000 kWhr/year. SJ1 Renewables did not install this machine but have been called in...
